Ignition by a Climbing Pilot Flame

Ignition of an inflammable gas-air mixture in the ignition chamber by means of a high-voltage transformer. From there the flame will ascend through a guide pipe to the pilot burners at the top of the flare stack. The pilot burners will, in turn, ignite the flare burner. These pilot burners work with automatic intake suction and are bent towards the entrance of the flare burner; the complete pilot burner and the venturi are each protected against wind by windshields.

Gas-electric Ignition

Ignition of an inflammable gas-air mixture by means of special ignition plugs in the pilot head. Each pilot burner is fitted with one plug for the high-voltage power supply and one plug for discharging the milli-voltage from the thermo-elements installed inside the pilot burner. The pilot burners will, in turn, ignite the flare burner. The pilot burners work with automatic suction and are bent towards the entrance of the flare burner; the complete pilot head and the venturi are protected against wind by windshields.

Ignition Starter

The flare burner is ignited by means of a high-energy ignition stick. The required high energy will be generated by a separate high-energy igniter. The ignition tip is manufactured of high-temperature resistant and/or ceramic materials; it is designed for a constant temperature of about 1200°C. The length of the ignition stick depends on the customer's requirements.

Flare Igniters

Igniters for the ignition of pilot burners with an option of hand-operated ignition on site, from a remote site (e.g. measuring station), or for automatic ignition with remote release, e.g. in the event of an outage of the pilot flame. They all have a local display showing the response message from the pilot flame operated through potential-free signalling contacts.

Flare Monitoring Equipment

Depending on the type of ignition equipment, thermo elements for monitoring the pilot burner flame are available on a regular basis, or they are available with an optional UV flame monitor. It is possible to install additional equipment for safety monitoring, e.g. by means of measurements of the gas-velocity, if required.
