Double-casing heating was formerly used very frequently; however, during recent years it was increasingly replaced by concomitant heating. This is due to the danger of product pollution and to the high cost of investment for the double casing.

Concomitant heating assisted by PREMATHERM heat-conducting paste is increasingly used. This type of heating offers simple and easy installation of the concomitant piping and, through the support of PREMATHERM heat-conducting paste, the resulting heat transfer has almost the same effect as a double-casing heating.

Concomitant Heating with PREMATHERM Heat-conducting Paste

We are often asked whether, in the case of pipelines that are installed in vertical direction, the additional pipes may be positioned underneath or even on top (because of the easier assembly). To answer this question precisely, we have carried out the following experiment:

SPECIFICATIONS

The result shows that by using PREMATHERM heat-conducting paste the product may be heated up to 120°C within a short time, and that the position of the additional tube is irrelevant. By contrast, it has been shown in the case of concomitant heating without heat-conducting paste that, in the best case, the equilibrium was reached at a temperature of 87°C, and that the position of the additional tube is very important.
