Mixing Technology
Static Mixers
A static mixer will work as a "pulsating mixing reactor" (PMR). Such a pulsating mixing reactor is a continually operating mixing aggregate inside a pipeline without any movable parts and without any outside power supply requirement.
A PMR is always required when an optimum mixing result is desired at a minimum cost. |

Variants
| Materials: | Casing and mixing elements made of steel, stainless steel, synthetic material
|
| Measurements: | Nominal width DN 25 DN 1000 (connection pursuant to DIN or ASA and/or rectangular channel)
|
| Pressure stages: | Nominal pressure - PN 6 to PN 64
|
| Temperatures: | Depending on the materials used
|
| Design: | Mixing elements built in and fixed, or mixing elements may be removed |
Operation
A PMR consists of a tube casing with elements arranged in sequence for separating the medium that flows through (please see the schematic design). The product components to be mixed are carried to the first partitioning element and are there separated into 3 streams. One of these will pass the element, and the other 2 streams will pass it on either side. The number of separations is now 3. During Phase 2, each of these partitions is divided again, so that the number of partitions is now 32. The final number of partitions thus depends on the number of elements planned. You may generate additional efficiency through the axial rotation of the liquid streams, also by the motion up and down, and through a slight oscillation pressure. All these processes will generate an effect of pulsation.
Applications
The PMR may be used for mixing, for chemical reactions (halogenations, neutralization, etc.), heating, cooling (mixing components with various temperatures), homogenization, and forming of emulsions. The aggregate is suitable for mixing solid materials, liquids, and gases in any combination.
Advantages
- Exact and homogeneous mixtures with low energy consumption for large and small flow quantities.
- Low gravity with little resistance, even with high viscosity.
- Limitless performance, since the aggregate can be supplied for any tube diameter.
- Simple structure and short construction time.
- Little loss of pressure through favourably dimensioned internal components.
- The figure of internal temperature transition between medium and tube wall is up to 500% higher when using a PMR, since the process of mixing causes corresponding turbulences.
- Easy assembly.
- No loose parts; consequently no wear and no required maintenance.
- No power required from outside the system.

- Chemical Industry
- Petrochemical Industry
